An effective kitchen renovation involves so much more than simply making cosmetic changes that are pleasing to the eye. It also involves remodeling the space so that it's functional and safe.
This was the challenge we faced when we entered a kitchen in a cozy condo in Providence. Previous homeowners had attempted their own DIY renovations and repairs (along with some help from the occasional handyman). These renovation "layers" and haphazard repairs resulted in a kitchen that felt lost and that suffered from potentially dangerous conditions, including disconnected live wires buried in the wall.
The current homeowners wanted a contemporary kitchen that maximized space, so we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We replaced all the cabinets, electrical, plumbing, insulation, plaster, trim, and paint. The only original material is the gorgeous oak flooring. Here's a shot of the final renovation.
The stainless steel appliances give the space a contemporary feel.
The flat-panel bottom cabinets are incredibly roomy and perfect for storage while the glass-front cabinets and open cabinets are on trend.
The single bowl sink and sleek faucet add to the contemporary allure. For added functionality, undercabinet lighting is available for those everyday tasks (like chopping veggies and reading recipes) that take place on the stunning granite countertops.
